are we to paint what's on the face, what's inside the face, or what's behind it?

One of the original 'window experiments'...Christmas painting for my brother who downhill mountain bikes.
Recently, I've branched out from dabbling in water colors and began an exciting adventure using local, recycled materials. It all started last year with a birthday date to do something fun...then a trip to the local used housing materials store where we picked out old barn windows and house paint. A day later I was having so much fun using q-tips to apply those old house paints to the back of clean glass windows that months later I decided to take on a large project with this same method.
Above is a slide show of paintings of each one of the children at the Maranatha House Orphanage in Titanyen, Haiti. I used the method described above to paint their faces in reverse on the backs of old barn and house windows. The view you see is looking through the glass with the paint on the back. This project was to fuel the efforts of myself, Kyle Keeler and the Amber Outreach Project to provide the chance for the children we work with in Haiti to have the right to advance their minds through basic education. Each picture sells for $150 - the cost to send one child to school for a year in Haiti. The time spent to paint all of these pictures seemed to drag on some days...but each one of these children has not just a beautiful face but also a wonderful unique person-hood and has a beautiful God given soul. I wish I could tell you here about the giggles, attitudes, fights, shy grins and dreams of each one of them and how I fell more and more in love with each unique child as I soaked in the intricate details of their facial structures.
